CVE-2022-24066Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Command execution via unchecked clone upload-pack option

Published Apr 1, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Command injection in simple-git before 3.5.0 allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands through crafted git clone options. The cloneTask function appends caller-controlled custom arguments to git clone without rejecting --upload-pack, allowing Git to invoke an attacker-selected executable. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled clone arguments, and successful execution runs with that application's account and can read, alter, or delete accessible data.
