CVE-2022-24039Network attack vector

Workstation code execution via unsanitized report XML

Published May 10, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Special element injection in Siemens Desigo PXC4 and PXC5 before 02.20.142.10-10884 allows remote authenticated users to create malicious XLS files. The addCell JavaScript function inserts user-controlled report content into the XLS document's XML body without sanitizing XML tags. Restricted privileges suffice to poison report data, but a higher-privileged user must open the generated file for code execution on the workstation.
