CVE-2022-23973

Arbitrary code execution via unchecked profile parameter

Published Apr 7, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in ASUS RT-AX56U 3.0.0.4.386.45898 allows remote attackers on the LAN to execute arbitrary code. The user profile configuration function fails to validate parameter length before handling the value, causing a stack buffer overflow. No authentication is required, but network access to the router's LAN is required; successful exploitation permits arbitrary device operations or a service interruption.
