SMM code execution via unsafe Boot Services call

SMM callout in HP PC BIOS before 02.07.10 allows local users with kernel privileges to execute arbitrary code in System Management Mode. A child software-SMI handler invokes EFI Boot Services AllocatePool from SMRAM, allowing a modified service pointer to redirect privileged execution. Ring-0 access is required; successful exploitation reaches ring -2 and can bypass SPI flash protections to implant persistent firmware code.
