Local SMM code execution via heap buffer overflow

Heap buffer overflow in the child SW SMI handler in HP PC BIOS before 02.07.10 allows local users to execute code in SMM. The handler copies an attacker-sized wide string into a heap buffer allocated to the smaller FactoryConfig or BuildId NVRAM value. Exploitation requires ring-0 access and can corrupt SMM memory, bypass firmware protections, and install code that persists across operating system reinstalls.
