Memory corruption via unchecked protobuf ethAddr copy
Published Aug 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in TCL LINKHUB Mesh Wi-Fi AC1200 MS1G_00_01.00_14 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory via a crafted packet. The confsrv set_mf_rule handler copies the protobuf ethAddr value into an 18-byte stack buffer using the untrusted value's strlen as the memcpy length. Exploitation requires unauthenticated access from an adjacent network and causes stack memory corruption in the router service.
