Subscriber-level automation creation via unchecked AJAX import
Published Aug 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authorization in FunnelKit Automations before 2.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to create arbitrary automations through AJAX. The bwf_import_automations_json_file action accepts an uploaded automation JSON file without a capability check or CSRF token validation. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to store attacker-defined workflows, including email actions that can run when configured triggers fire.
