CVE-2022-23835Public exploit

Voicemail disclosure via plaintext SMS credentials

Published Feb 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Credential exposure in Visual Voice Mail through 2022-02-24 allows attackers with SMS access to read stored and new voicemail. Carrier status messages place the IMAP username, password, and server address in an unencrypted SMS that a READ_SMS application can capture without the message appearing in AOSP messaging. Temporary SMS interception is the gate; the recovered credentials retain access after interception ends, although AT&T and T-Mobile dispute concrete exploitability.
