CVE-2022-23821

Code execution via unauthorized SPI ROM writes

Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Dec 3, 2024

Improper access control in AMD processor SMM firmware allows attackers to write SPI ROM and execute arbitrary code via SMM. AMD has not disclosed the affected SMM code path or the access-control check that fails before SPI ROM writes. The consequence is attacker-controlled firmware code execution; AMD does not state the required initial access or trigger.
