Open redirect via inadequate internal URL validation
Published Mar 30, 2022 · Updated Feb 25, 2026
Open redirect in Joomla! CMS 2.5.0 through 3.10.6 and 4.0.0 through 4.1.0 allows remote attackers to redirect users. The core Uri::isInternal check inadequately validates a supplied redirect URL and can misclassify an external destination as internal. Exploitation requires a user to follow an attacker-controlled URL, after which Joomla redirects the browser to an external destination.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
