Remote code execution via updater verification bypass
Published Aug 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Origin validation error in Teruten WebCube before 1.2.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute code through the Windows update process. The updater accepts a digitally signed legitimate file bundled with an unauthorized file because its download verification does not validate every update payload. Exploitation requires user interaction but no attacker authentication and allows the unauthorized payload to run on the affected Windows host.
