CVE-2022-23719

SYSTEM code execution via unauthenticated local Java service

Published Jun 30, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Authentication bypass in PingID Windows Login before 2.8 allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM by spoofing its Java service. The application does not authenticate messages exchanged with the local Java service that captures security-key requests, allowing a same-host attacker who can execute code to impersonate that service. Exploitation can elevate execution to SYSTEM or interrupt offline security-key authentication; no remote network access is required.
