Remote code execution via unrestricted git config
Published Feb 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Code injection in Sourcegraph before 3.37 allows remote attackers with access to gitserver to execute arbitrary commands. The gitserver exec proxy accepts git config operations that set core.sshCommand, causing Git to run an attacker-selected command instead of SSH. The service must be reachable through an internal HTTP path; successful exploitation executes code with the gitserver service's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
