CVE-2022-23633Network attack vector

Cross-request data disclosure via uncleared thread-local state

Published Feb 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Information disclosure in Ruby on Rails Action Pack allows remote attackers to receive thread-local data retained from earlier requests. When a response body is not closed, ActionDispatch::Executor fails to reset thread-local state, allowing ActiveSupport::CurrentAttributes values to persist into the next request. Exposure requires a web server or Rack middleware that fails to deliver the response close notification; leaked data is limited to state retained from a prior request.
