Browser script execution via unescaped redirect field
Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Cross-site scripting in XWiki Platform allows remote attackers to run script in a user's browser through a crafted registration URL. The registerinline.vm template writes the xredirect request value into a hidden input without XML escaping, allowing injected markup to reach the response. Exploitation requires open registration, guest users blocked from viewing the registration page, and a user who follows the crafted URL; script executes in that user's XWiki origin.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
