CVE-2022-23615Network attack vector

Programming-right escalation via incorrect document author check

Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Incorrect authorization in XWiki Platform before 13.0 allows remote authenticated users with SCRIPT right to access programming-only APIs. The Document.save method checks the current user's programming right when selecting the saved document author instead of requiring the script author to hold that right. Exploitation requires SCRIPT right and a save executed while the current user has programming right, enabling access to APIs otherwise denied to the script author.
