CVE-2022-23605

Local message disclosure via unfiltered expired records

Published Feb 4, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Information exposure in Wire Swiss GmbH Wire Web App before 2022-01-27-production.0 allows local users to read expired messages via search. ConversationService.searchInConversation returned locally stored event records without excluding entries whose ephemeral_expires marker indicated expiration, while event-loading paths likewise retained them. Access requires control of the affected browser profile and its local Wire history; opening a result triggers deletion, and the exposure does not alter messages or affect server-side data.
