Process crash via unchecked Grappler nodes
Published Feb 4, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Null pointer dereferences in TensorFlow before 2.5.3, 2.6.0 through 2.6.2, and 2.7.0 allow remote authenticated users to crash a process. During constant folding, missing binary-operation nodes leave mul_left_child or mul_right_child null before IsReallyConstant dereferences them; IsIdentityConsumingSwitch likewise dereferences a null input_node. Processing a maliciously altered SavedModel that reaches either Grappler path is required, and exploitation interrupts the TensorFlow-hosting process through a crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=< 2.5.3
- Affected versionversion=>= 2.6.0, < 2.6.3
