CVE-2022-23579Network attack vector

Process crash via missing Grappler input node

Published Feb 4, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025

Reachable assertion in Google TensorFlow before 2.5.3, 2.6.0 through 2.6.2, and 2.7.0 allows attackers to crash the process. Grappler's DependencyOptimizer::SafeToRemoveIdentity dereferences a missing input node after NodeMap::GetNode returns null and terminates execution through a fatal CHECK. Exploitation requires a crafted SavedModel to reach Grappler optimization, and the resulting impact is limited to interruption of the TensorFlow process.
