Unauthenticated file disclosure via noncanonical URL matching
Published Dec 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
Incorrect authorization in Steve Springett Alpine before 1.10.4 allows remote attackers to read protected files via crafted URLs. BlacklistUrlFilter and WhitelistUrlFilter apply startsWith comparisons to raw request URIs before the servlet container canonicalizes semicolon traversal segments. Exposure requires an application to deploy either filter around protected resources; executable WAR packaging can expose application source code.
