Administrator command execution via configurable mysqldump path
Published Aug 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Code injection in Lester Chan WP-DBManager before 2.80.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute server commands through WordPress. The database-backup.php workflow accepts an administrator-controlled Path To mysqldump value and invokes it during backup, allowing a PHP interpreter and an uploaded script to be supplied as the command. In a multisite deployment, a site administrator who lacks super-administrator authority can thereby run arbitrary commands with the WordPress server process's privileges.
