CVE-2022-23538Network attack vector

Credential theft via cross-host redirect header forwarding

Published Jan 17, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025

Credential exposure in Sylabs SCS Library Client 1.3.2, 1.3.3, 1.4.0, and 1.4.1 allows attackers to obtain authentication tokens. The legacyDownloadImage path passes the client's bearer token into multipartDownload for a Location URL without first restricting credentials to the library service host. Exposure requires an authenticated multipart pull from an Enterprise 1.x or compatible server that redirects to attacker-accessible S3 storage, enabling user impersonation.
