Stored XSS via unescaped temporary directory setting
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in WPExperts Post SMTP before 2.1.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another administrator's browser. The Temporary Directory setting is rendered into an HTML attribute in the administrator dashboard without output escaping, preserving injected event-handler markup. Administrator-level settings access and a dashboard visit by another user are required, exposing browser-accessible data and actions under that user's session.
