CVE-2022-23508

Kubernetes workload injection via unauthenticated S3 endpoint

Published Jan 9, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025

Improper access control in GitOps Run in Weaveworks Weave GitOps 0.11.0 and earlier allows local users to deploy arbitrary workloads. The workflow port-forwards an in-memory S3 bucket server and, before the fix, passed requests to its handler without signature authentication. A process on the same host can read or replace synchronized bucket content, which the workflow applies to the connected cluster without S3 or cluster credentials.
