CVE-2022-23502Network attack vector

Continued account access via unrevoked sessions

Published Dec 14, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Insufficient session expiration in affected TYPO3 CMS releases allows attackers to retain account access after a password reset. The backend PasswordReset::resetPassword and frontend PasswordRecoveryController::changePasswordAction paths update passwords but omit invalidation of existing user sessions. Exploitation requires a valid frontend or backend session for the reset account; that session continues to authorize access after the password changes.
