DOM XSS via unchecked cookie-name assignment

DOM cross-site scripting in jQuery Cookie 1.4.1 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser through crafted cookie data. When reading all cookies, $.cookie() decodes attacker-controlled names and JSON values and assigns them to a plain result object without blocking the proto key. Exploitation requires JSON cookie parsing and a consuming application that sends an inherited property to an unsafe DOM sink; Debian classifies the behavior as an application-level sanitization issue rather than a jquery-cookie flaw.
