Password recovery via weak MD5 hashes
Published Mar 21, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Weak password hashing in BigAnt Software BigAnt Server 5.6.06 allows remote attackers to recover account passwords from exposed MD5 hashes. The server stores Service Admin, Super Admin, and user credentials in readily crackable MD5 form rather than using a computationally expensive password-hashing scheme. The published exploit requires no authentication to retrieve the Service Admin hash or SQL logs containing account hashes, enabling offline recovery of reusable passwords.
