SYSTEM code execution via missing DLL lookup
Published Aug 17, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
DLL search-path hijacking in Softing Secure Integration Server 1.22 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code as SYSTEM. During configuration restoration, the service tries to load the absent Windows\System32\wbem\wbemcomn.dll and accepts an attacker-placed library from an unsecured location. Administrative access to the Windows host is required, and successful exploitation runs arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges.
