Denial of service via transaction-pool eviction
Published Mar 4, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Denial of service in Go-Ethereum 1.10.12 and earlier allows remote attackers to purge pending transactions via a malicious peer message. The transaction pool accepts a message containing 5,120 high-gas-price future transactions and evicts every pending transaction from memory. An unauthenticated attacker node needs a peer connection to the victim; the result excludes legitimate transactions from the pending pool rather than crashing the process.
