Local privilege escalation
Published Mar 9, 2022 · Updated Jul 8, 2025
Elevation of privilege in Microsoft Windows allows local users with low privileges to obtain elevated privileges through PDEV. Microsoft identifies the affected locus as PDEV, the logical representation of a physical device, but has not published the erroneous operation or attacker-controlled input. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access and crosses the caller's existing privilege boundary without user interaction.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
