CVE-2022-23280Network attack vector

IP address disclosure via automatic image loading

Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Jan 2, 2025

Information disclosure in Microsoft Outlook for Mac before 16.57 allows remote attackers to obtain a target's IP address through the preview pane. The preview pane automatically retrieves an attacker-supplied remote image even when Outlook's image-download protection would normally block it. No authentication or click is required once the crafted email reaches the mailbox, and the reported consequence is IP-address disclosure rather than code execution.
