CVE-2022-23134Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Configuration overwrite via unsigned setup session

Published Jan 13, 2022 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Improper access control in Zabbix Frontend 5.4.0 through 5.4.8 allows remote attackers to overwrite its configuration. setup.php trusts attacker-controlled, unsigned client-side session fields, so a forged step value of 6 reaches CSetupWizard::stage6 and writes conf/zabbix.conf.php. No authentication or user interaction is required, but exploitation requires a completed installation with the setup script present and database credentials that pass the wizard's connection check.
