Remote vehicle control via anonymous Grafana token exposure
Published Jan 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authentication bypass in TeslaMate before 1.25.1 allows remote attackers to control linked vehicles through an exposed Grafana service. The default Docker image enables anonymous Grafana access and disables basic authentication, exposing stored Tesla API tokens through dashboard queries. Internet reachability of the basic Docker deployment is required; a retrieved token grants door, climate, horn, location, and Keyless Driving operations.
