Local memory disclosure via stale shared mapping

Memory disclosure in FreeBSD before 12.3-RELEASE-p6, 13.0-RELEASE-p12, or 13.1-RELEASE-p1 allows local users to read private data. In vm_fault_copy_entry(), copy-on-write handling copies a backing-object page into a shared shadow object without removing every mapping of the source page. An unprivileged process that arranges shared shadow mappings can retain a stale mapping after the source page is freed and read data later assigned to other processes or the kernel.
