File disclosure via canonical-path prefix confusion
Published May 31, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Path traversal in Mend.io CureKit 1.0.1 through 1.1.3 allows remote attackers to read files outside an intended base directory. FileSecurityUtils.isFileOutsideDir compares canonical-path strings with startsWith, so a sibling path sharing the base prefix is treated as inside. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled paths to this library method; the disclosed consequence is file confidentiality loss.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
