CVE-2022-23079Network attack vector

Account takeover via password-reset host header injection

Published Jun 22, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Host header injection in Motor Admin 0.0.1 through 0.2.56 allows remote attackers to take over accounts through password-reset email links. The password-reset controllers copy the untrusted HTTP Host value into Devise mailer URL options, causing generated reset links to use an attacker-controlled host. A victim must follow the poisoned link, which discloses the reset token to the attacker-controlled host and enables the account password to be replaced.
