Chat disclosure and impersonation via unchecked room access
Published Jun 22, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Missing authorization in Frappe Framework 13.14.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read or send unauthorized chat messages. The chat send path accepts caller-supplied user and room identifiers and saves records with permissions ignored, while history retrieves a room's messages without verifying membership. Low-privileged access is sufficient to read conversations outside the account's groups or send messages presented as the administrator.
