CVE-2022-23003Network attack vector

Session interruption via unreduced P-256 output

Published Jul 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Incorrect calculation in Western Digital Sweet B Library before 2 allows remote attackers to interrupt an individual session. Its P-256 shared-secret and point-multiplication routines fail to reduce a zero X coordinate modulo the field prime, producing invalid output. Reachability depends on an embedding application accepting attacker-influenced curve points; the error or wrong session key cannot affect other components.
