Traffic interception via weak port-forwarding SSL context
Published Jul 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Algorithm downgrade in Western Digital My Cloud OS 5 before 5.23.114 allows local users to read or alter port-forwarding traffic. The My Cloud Web App's port-forwarding path creates an SSL context that permits deprecated or insecure protocols instead of enforcing TLS. Exploitation requires local access but no privileges or user interaction, and its reported effects are limited to information transmitted through that connection.
