Privilege escalation via unvalidated cgi_api resource URIs
Published Jan 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Server-side request forgery in Western Digital My Cloud OS 5 before 5.19.117 allows network-adjacent attackers to bypass access controls. The cgi_api endpoint accesses resources from supplied URIs without properly validating them, allowing requests to reach otherwise restricted server pages. Local-network reachability and an authentication-bypass path are required; chaining with another flaw can execute arbitrary code as root.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
