CVE-2022-22990

Authentication bypass via protected-page string matching

Published Jan 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Authentication bypass in Western Digital My Cloud OS 5 before 5.19.117 allows remote attackers to access protected administration pages. The nasAdmin service on TCP ports 80 and 443 uses incorrect string matching when deciding whether a requested PHP page is protected. No authentication is required, but access is limited to the same local network by default; bypassing the check exposes protected functionality and enables code execution.
