CVE-2022-22971Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated service interruption via duplicate STOMP connections

Published May 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Denial of service in Spring Framework 5.3.0 through 5.3.19 and 5.2.21 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service. StompBrokerRelayMessageHandler opens a backend TCP connection for each duplicate CONNECT in one WebSocket session and loses management of prior connections, leaving them allocated. The application must enable WebSocket messaging and StompBrokerRelay; flooding exhausts the connection pool and stops responses without reported data access or modification.
