Unauthenticated code execution via unrestricted SpEL evaluation
Published Mar 3, 2022 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Code injection in VMware Spring Cloud Gateway 3.1.0 and 3.0.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via Actuator requests. ShortcutConfigurable.getValue parses attacker-controlled route filter values as SpEL with a StandardEvaluationContext that permits type and method access. Exploitation requires the Gateway Actuator endpoint to be enabled, exposed over HTTP, and unsecured, and successful code runs with the gateway process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
