Service crash via signed font offset
Published Jan 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Denial of service in VMware Workstation 16.x before 16.2.2 and Horizon Client for Windows 5.x before 5.5.3 allows attackers to crash ThinPrint. TPView.dll accepts a negative FileEndOffs value from an EMFSPOOL font record, passes a signed bounds check, and uses it as the size for realloc. Access to a virtual machine or remote desktop and enabled virtual printing are required; the service runs on the Windows host.
