Administrative access via predictable HTTP session IDs
Published Feb 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Insufficient session randomness in TP-Link TL-WA850RE V6 before v6_200923 allows remote attackers to gain administrative access. The HTTPd session generator increments IDs sequentially and restarts its sequence after reboot, enabling enumeration of values near a known ID. Exploitation requires network access to the management interface and an active administrator session, whose privileges become available through the predicted ID.
