Script execution via HTML-rendered error responses
Published Jul 3, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Trilium Notes before 0.52.4 or 0.53 beta builds before 0.53.1-beta allows remote attackers to execute script. Multiple Express route handlers place request-controlled note and revision identifiers into error bodies without declaring text/plain, so browsers interpret the responses as HTML. Exploitation requires a victim to open a crafted URL; injected script then runs in the Trilium web origin and can read or alter data available to that session.
