Interpreter crash via uninitialized this-binding resolution
Published Jan 20, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reachable assertion in JerryScript 3.0.0 allows local users to crash the interpreter by executing crafted JavaScript. Arrow-function this-binding resolution mishandles an environment record in a derived constructor and reaches ecma_check_value_type_is_spec_defined with an invalid internal value. The published reproduction requires attacker-supplied script execution on a debug build with assertions enabled; the demonstrated consequence is interpreter termination.
