Incorrect bounding boxes via uninitialized path coordinates
Published Jan 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper initialization in Pillow before 9.0.0 allows remote attackers to alter geometry-dependent processing through ImagePath.Path. alloc_array uses malloc for coordinate storage, leaving integer-created paths with uninitialized doubles that path_getbbox consumes as x and y bounds. Reachability requires a consuming application to create paths from attacker-controlled counts and use getbbox; results can corrupt derived geometry or interrupt application processing.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
