CVE-2022-22814Public exploit

Privilege escalation via unrestricted ALPC RPC

Published Mar 10, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Privilege escalation in the System Diagnosis service of ASUS MyASUS before 3.1.2.0 allows local users to execute commands as SYSTEM. The AsusSystemDiagnosis.exe service exposes the \RPC Control\ASHWTestServer ALPC port to every user, and Proc39 starts Task Manager as SYSTEM without an authorization check. Any local user who can connect to the port can use that privileged process to start arbitrary commands with SYSTEM rights.
