Application crash via invalid dictionary locale
Published Jul 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in OPF metadata handling in bfabiszewski libmobi before 0.11 allows local users to crash applications via crafted files. During OPF metadata construction, mobi_build_opf_metadata passes a NULL result from mobi_get_locale_string to strdup when dictionary locale metadata is invalid. The vulnerable path requires a crafted dictionary MOBI file to reach metadata reconstruction, and the demonstrated consequence is an application crash.
